Yes, it was just recently that I heard there is more than one food bank in Southington. How come? I think they all have different criteria maybe? But there should be a central location where people could come for food, clothing, social services maybe even classes that could help them get employment such as how to go for a job interview, apply for a job or write a resume or learn every day skills.

It would be very helpful to consolidate local food banks! Right now most local food banks are run by volunteer and religious organizations. These groups individually collect, deliver and distribute foods. Wouldn't it better serve those in need within our community to have one centralized location where all food could be sent to from the various groups participating? If these groups coordinated and shared in the burden of distibution and delivery, costs could be reduced. Having a centralized location would give the community a better handle on how much food is needed along with how many recipients there truly are. We should all be working together! So much more is accomplished when we collaborate.
Due to the uncertain economy, are you cutting back this holiday season? Buying fewer gifts? Won't be traveling? Canceling holiday parties? What changes are you making to your traditional holiday celebrations?
